Ernest Tom Booker was a Private in the 9th Battalion, Lancashire Fusiliers. He enlisted on the 10th September 1914 at the age of 22 years and 9 months old, being given the regimental number of 23038. His occupation was stated to be a horse driver.
He was born in Holmesfield, the son of William Booker, of Oak Cottage. He was 5 feet 8.25 inches in height, had a fresh complexion, blue eyes and brown hair, and belonged to the Church of England.
According to his service papers, he served in France from the 23rd August 1915 until the 9th July 1916, then was on home service until the 21st November 1916, when he was discharged as no longer physically fit for duty.

1911 Census:
(Possibly) Thomas Booker, a 19 year old farm labourer, was the servant of George Henry Hattersley, a farmer, of Woodthorpe, Holmesfield.
